Our People Deliver The Difference

Heat Pump Installation

Heat pumps are a reliable option for heating your home during the winter and cooling it down in the summer. Installing a heat pump gives you reliable, energy-efficient comfort at an affordable price. It’s also an eco-friendly home heating and cooling solution that’s becoming increasingly popular with our clients in Greenville and Spartanburg counties.

At Waldrop Plumbing, Heating, & Air, our NATE-certified HVAC technicians help you select the ideal option for your home and complete the heat pump installation within hours.

Choosing Your Heat Pump

Before we schedule your installation, choose the type of heat pump you want installed. Whether you’re doing a heat pump replacement or a new installation, choosing the right unit for your home is essential. If it’s too small, it won’t deliver the comfort you desire. Additionally, while air-source heat pumps are typically less expensive to install, the long-term benefits and energy savings from a ground-source heat pump can make it a much better investment.

There are three main types of heat pumps to choose from: air source, mini-split, and geothermal. They differ in energy efficiency, noise levels, climate performance, and power. Keep reading to determine which heat pump may be best for you.

Air source heat pumps

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air to heat your home and generate hot water. They’re capable of extracting heat from the air when temperatures reach up to -15°C. While air-source heat pumps cost more to purchase and install than gas furnaces, the long-term energy savings more than recoup the additional cost. This makes them an eco-friendly home heating installation solution that will generate reliable, year-round comfort.

Mini-split heat pumps

As with air-source heat pumps, mini-splits have an outdoor compressor/condenser and indoor air-handling units. These are connected via a conduit that contains all the power cables, refrigerant tubing, condensate drain, etc. Mini-split heat pumps are ideal for use within zoned homes where you want to heat/cool certain areas without wasting energy in others. As a general rule, mini-split heat pumps consume roughly 60% less energy than most electric resistance heating systems and can trim up to 30% off your monthly cooling costs.

Geothermal heat pumps

Geothermal, or ground-source heat pumps, are extremely energy efficient and generate heat using solar energy stored deep underground. In many cases, geothermal heating can trim 70% or more of your monthly heating and cooling bills.

Waldrop’s Heat Pump Installation Services

Once you’ve selected your heat pump, one of our technicians will visit your home to complete the installation. Our heat pump installers undergo a rigorous background check and are fully certified and licensed, so you can trust them to get the job done promptly and professionally.

During the installation, our technician removes your old unit if necessary, installs your new heat pump, tests the unit to ensure it’s working properly, and answers any questions you may have. In three to four hours, your new heat pump will be warming or cooling your South Carolina home.

Your new heat pump can last up to 25 years if properly maintained. Our team is ready to help with maintenance and repairs to keep your unit running smoothly for years to come.

Heat Pump Installation Costs

The total cost of a heat pump installation varies from home to home. Factors that influence the cost include the size of the home, the brand of the heat pump, and the cost of permits and fees required to install the heat pump. The larger the home and the higher the chosen heat pump brand’s quality, the more expensive the installation.

It’s also important to consider the cost of permits and fees, construction materials, and supplies. These can vary from county to county, so it’s important to get an estimate based on your specific location. Further, if your home does not currently have a duct system installed, you will need to install one if you opt for a ground source or air source heat pump. This can also cause the installation cost to rise, but the advantage is that installing new ducts will create considerable comfort in your home.
